Broadcasts
Broadcasts let you send a single message to many audience members at once. They’re ideal for announcements, product updates, newsletters, and any message where the audience is “a group”, not one specific user.
What a broadcast is
A broadcast is a bulk send job. You choose:
- Who should receive it (for example, a segment or your entire audience)
- What you’re sending (typically a template, sometimes manual content)
- When to send it (now vs scheduled)
Broadcasts help you keep targeting and content decisions in one place, instead of scattering one-off scripts across repos.
How it fits into the system
- Segments define recipient sets.
- Templates keep content consistent across channels and iterations.
- Categories + Preferences ensure you respect opt-outs at scale.
- Delivery tracking (especially for email) is much more valuable in a broadcast context because you can monitor outcomes across a population.
Getting started
- Identify members and make sure they have the attributes you need for targeting.
- Create a segment (optional but recommended) to define the audience.
- Create a template for the message.
- Create a broadcast in the Dashboard, select your segment, choose channels, and send a test to confirm rendering.
Start with in-app broadcasts if you’re still configuring email delivery. In-app has fewer deliverability variables and is a great way to validate targeting + content first.
